About Jarrett Karnibad

A lifelong fan, I have always had a passion for sports, analytics, and statistics. Luckily for me these all overlap quite a bit. I have always been fascinated by Sports analytics and Statistical Analysis in sports. In fact, my journey can be traced all the way back to before 2016, when I was a Freshman in high school. This was my first real attempt at the impossible: Creating a Predictive College Basketball Model/Formula to make the Perfect Bracket. It was in 2016, that I was introduced to Microsoft Excel. Prior to this, I had been doing my models and formulas with pen, paper, and a calculator. The introduction of Microsoft Excel made my life much easier, and I also grew more confident. In 2016, my formula, now lost to broken laptops and incomplete backups, predicted that the Michigan State Spartans were the best College Basketball team in the country. I confidently filled out a bracket, using the formula to predict the result of each game, and titled it “Stats Don’t Lie.” I could not have been more wrong. Just a few days later, Michigan State became just the eighth 2-seed in March Madness history to lose in the first round to a 15-seed (Middle Tennessee State).

My journey did not end there, but rather it only begun. Every year since, I have created newer, more complex models to try to predict the winners of College Basketball games in March Madness. Last year in 2025, I created 14 “Models and Formulas” brackets. My best model from last year was actually in its debut year, and it finished in the 94th percentile in ESPN. In 2024, a different model finished in the 98.4th percentile on ESPN, and in 2023, another model finished in the 96.8th percentile. I consider these to be moderately successful, and the journey will never stop until I achieve what I set out to do over ten years ago: Create a Perfect Bracket.

I also love Major League Baseball, and much of my recent writing has been about the MLB, and the sport of baseball. I would consider myself to be well-versed in most sports, ranging from the 4 major North American Sports, to tennis (the sport I actually played collegiately), all the way to golf, Formula 1, NASCAR, WWE and UFC. I currently coach Pickleball and Tennis at a country club in Georgia.
